Regulation, Control and Ownership in Fan (Fiction) Communities
Submitted by Sarah Alice Oakley, Discipline of Media, The University of Adelaide, March 2011
There are two very important questions concerning fanfiction; what are the legal and social concerns surrounding intellectual property and moral authority in the process of fan creativity and publishing? The article reached through the title link addresses these questions and more. Basically, fan written fiction using existing characters is welcomed and encouraged by those who created the original characters. The Tarheel Writer has works that are considered fanfiction and we recommend hundreds of works considered fanfiction. We wholehearted agree with the article written by Sarah Alice Oakley, who has given written permission for her digital version to be made available on the web.
