The winter solstice happens for peeps in the Northern hemisphere today at 10:27PM EST. For peeps in the Southern hemisphere, it's the longest day of the year.
The winter solstice, also called the hibernal solstice, occurs when either of Earth's poles reaches its maximum tilt away from the Sun. This happens twice yearly, once in each hemisphere (Northern and Southern). For that hemisphere, the winter solstice is the day with the shortest period of daylight and longest night of the year.
As I said last year, it's the perfect night to light a few candles and have marathon sex. Afterall,we have all night and it is the longest night of the year. Happy monkey sex to you all and to you all a slip slappery night.

According the the CDC, winter time is slow for suicide while spring and summer are highest. Are you or someone you know struggling? Visit my Suicide Page for lots of options.
Key findings from The Trevor Project for the last year:
— Rates of suicide attempts were generally higher among LGBTQ youth of color, and particularly among Native/Indigenous LGBTQ youth — 21% say they attempted suicide in the past year.
— 60% of LGBTQ youth who wanted mental health care in the past year were unable to get it.
— 73% of LGBTQ youth reported experiencing symptoms of anxiety and 58% reported experiencing depression symptoms.
— Respondents also described their sources of joy, which included BTS, Lil Nas X, Dungeons & Dragons, wearing a binder for the first time and seeing representation of LGBTQ people of color in the media.

National Coming Out Day in the United States is celebrated each year to mark the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. Yes, this queer threw open the closet door way back when and has not looked back ever since. I even kissed Jeff on the Capitol lawn!

"Ocean" by Jevic, The Tarheel Writer is now complete. Fifteen chapters and 128,422 words of a wild ride with Ocean and Ian, our main characters. After the death of his parents, Ian finds himself in foster care with a horrible family. It is so bad that he runs away from his foster home and stumbles into a campsite where he meets a lovely long haired blond boy by the name of Ocean, who is immediately smitten with Ian. This one also drips in explict sexual content along with some mild drug use. Anyone that would name their kid Ocean would probably have an open mind when it comes to partaking in the natural plants that nature provides. You might call them modern day hippies.
"Ocean" is about the struggles of teenagers, bullying, jealousy, tragic death (sorry for killing off a popular character), sex, orgies and eventual love. You'll enjoy this one. It was fun to write.

To those in the United States, Happy Fourth of July! To those in Britian, well, I sure am glad we're friends after that little disagreement. Please don't let Trump represent all of us on this side of the pond. Most of us are much better than that.

It was seven years ago today that the shooting took place at the Pulse Night Club in Orlando. Fifty people died and fifty-three were wounded. Pulse was hosting "Latin Night", and most of the victims were Latino. It is the deadliest incident in the history of violence against LGBT people in the US and the deadliest terroist attack in the US since 9/11. Let's pause a moment and remember those that died and were wounded. May peace be with them all.

News reached us today that Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock and Roll, died at the age of 83 after a long illness. She had suffered ill health in recent years, being diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and having a kidney transplant in 2017. She was an awesome performer with hits like Proud Mary, Simply the Best, Private Dancer and Nutbush City Limits, she rocked it out.
Her death, while sad, reminds us that our time here on earth does have an expiration date. Enjoy life while you can!

Tid bit for the day. "Fuck" is the most commonly-used swear word, with 11.62 uses for every 1000 posts on Twitter. With 48 curse words per 1000 tweets, residents of Georgia use the most profanities of any US state, with Minnesota (15 per 1000 tweets) swearing the least. Ha!

I'm sad to announce that iconic Helix gay porn star Kyle Ross, real name Aaron Cumbey, died from injuries in a car wreck last weekend in Florida. Everybody at The Tarheel Writer expresses our condolences to his family and friends. He was one of my favorite stars and I am deeply saddened at his loss.

It's Earth Day and it is sad that people still throw trash out of car windows. Make a very small effort to pick up a piece of trash today. Think of how much trash would be picked up if all 7.888 billion (population of the planet) of us did that today. Thank you.
