Personal file of Dana Mulder

August 01st

7:00am Pacific Daylight Time

Scully and myself received word of a possible assignment in Roswell, New Mexico. The nature of the assignment and nearly everything surrounding it has been kept practically a secret. We have been allowed very little information, but our source tells us that the prototype for a new military device has been tampered with. Perhaps even put into use.

The M.A.S.T. which stands for Memory Altering Synaptic Transmitter was developed this past year by two entities including the United States Government and behavioral scientist, Dr. Elmer Riley. Exactly what the MAST does is not clear to me as of yet, but I am sure that it has something to do with changing the memory or something along those lines to whom ever it is directed at.

Close Personal File of Dana Mulder

"Dana, the file came in, it looks like we'll be heading out to Roswell," Fox said as he entered the office.

"Let me take a look at that," Dana replied reaching for the folder marked 'Top Secret' that Fox was holding.

"MAST, Memory Altering Synaptic Transmitter, when activated this prototype has the ability to rewrite the memory of the subject. The transmission relay may be projected directly through the emitter, or through any normal means of radio, television, and telephone transmissions," Dana said glancing up at Fox.

"Sounds interesting," she said thumbing through the files.

"What's even more interesting is that it already has been activated more than once," Fox replied sitting down across from Dana.

"How did they come across this," she asked.

"Seems that top security clearance was granted to someone on the inside to look over the project. All the clearance codes have been wiped over, so it's down to a guessing game of who's been tampering with it," he finished as he stood to pour a cup of coffee.

"Scully, you realize that a device of this caliber could have world wide implications," she said glancing at the diagrams and charts included with the file.

"You're not the only one who realizes this, Dana, someone on the inside is doing this," Fox said sitting back down.

"You're repeating yourself Scully," she smirked sitting back in her chair.

"Mulder, it's an agent."

"FBI," she asked.

"We are pretty sure, but exactly who is the real question right now," he replied sipping the coffee.

"Well, we might as well get moving," she exclaimed standing up.

"Driving or flying," he asked tossing the empty cup into the trash.

"Flying, right now I don't think I could manage sitting through another, how many hours drive is it," she asked with a grin.

"Flying it is," he smiled as they walked out of her office.

We sat around as yet another cattle call of fans passed us by.

"Hi, I'm…"

"Oh my God!!!"

"Will you marry me?!?"

"YOU ARE SO HOT AND TALENTED AND I JUST LOVE YOU SO MUCH," was all that hit my ears.

I tried my hardest to just be myself even though I knew no matter how nice I was I'd still be seen as the little Hanson prick. I glanced down at my watch. We only had fifteen to thirty more minutes. YES! Then we could back to the hotel and just relax, and maybe later explore New York a bit.

"Hey, Zac. Remember me," I looked up to see a very familiar face. I sat there for a few seconds trying to put a name to the face. Finally, it dawned on me.

"Daphne," I exclaimed in absolute shock.

"You remembered my name this time. Good job," she smiled.

I sat up and reaching over the table gave her a hug. A few jealous teenies screamed, and I noticed a few camera flashes went off. Taylor looked over to see who I was hugging obviously slipping out of his trance like state.

"Oh, hey Daphne. Sorry there, I zoned out. How are you?" He asked weakly. I could tell by his eyes and dropped shoulders just how tired he was, and I knew that the minute we got back to the hotel, he'd collapse into bed and just fall asleep.

"I'm good." She replied giving him a hug too.

I almost laughed as one teenie screamed, "OH MY GOD! UGH! I DIDN'T GET A HUG FROM THEM!"

"So how's the group doing?" I heard Ike ask, and I realized that while I had been zoning out Daphne had moved onto Isaac.

"Hey, no," I said, grabbing her hand and pulling her back in front of me.

"Zac, you have fans to meet" she laughed.

She looked to Isaac and said, "Oh, we're doing awesome! We have so much interest in us that's just growing day by day. I can't wait until we finish our demo so we can move to the next level. Anyway," she released my grip from her hand.

"I really have to go. Tell everyone I said 'hi,' and Ike, congratulations on your marriage to Shiye." I watched her grab the autographed eight by ten from in front of Isaac and walk off. Dad stopped her for a second to give her a hug, and I watched them talk for a bit before my attention snapped back to the assembly line.

"How long had I been holding her hand," I thought to myself as I attempted to sign a pair of drumsticks.

*          *          *          *          *

I couldn't hold back the smiles as soon as I stepped out of the area that was closed off for the signing. A bunch of fans who had shown up desperately hoping for even a glimpse of Hanson were standing behind a fence that they could so easily just knock over if they wanted to.

"Oh my God! You're Daphne of Freezer Burn," one screamed. I stopped and turned to shake a few hands.

"I heard you guys on the radio! You rock," another said.

A smaller girl pushed her way to the front and asked in a faint voice, "Daphne, hi. My name is Tracy, and if it's no problem with you, um, could I have your autograph?"

"Sure, um," I looked around. I had nothing band-related to sign and from the looks of it, neither did she. I sighed looking down at my newly autographed eight by ten.

"Does anyone have a pen?" I called out.

A black sharpie was quickly passed down to me. I motioned for her to turn around real quick and using her back for stability, I placed the autographed photo and signed the front of it too. When she turned around and saw what I had done, she screamed. I handed her the autograph.

"Are you sure," She asked her green eyes filling with tears.

"Yeah, I have tons of their autographs at home."

"I don't even have one, Daphne. Thank you! You have no idea how much this means to me. I promise to always support your group," I nodded and gave her a hug.

"Absolutely! Be sure to check out our site and email me sometime. Okay? Bye, you guys," I smiled as I waved.

A few of the fans screamed bye as I went to walk off. There was a moment of silence and then the screams came back. Only this time louder. I turned to see that Hanson had finished the signing and were coming out. Isaac, Taylor, and Zac were standing around trying to shake the fans' hands because to them these were the most important fans. The fans that came hoping, not knowing that they would see them. That was true dedication. As Tay reached out for Tracy's hand, I turned and began to walk away.

*          *          *          *          *

I couldn't wait to get back to the hotel. I was exhausted, hell I had been exhausted for the past six months. Sleeping had become almost impossible. Plus the flash backs were really bad as well. I began to shake one girl's hand when I saw that she had an autograph. I gave her a confused look. I didn't remember seeing her face in the line. She didn't appear to be wearing a pass either.

"How ... uh ... ?" I pointed to the autograph.

"Oh," her face lit up.

"Daphne of Freezer Burn signed it too and gave it to me."

I watched Zac's head snap over to us the minute he heard the name 'Daphne.' I tried to hide a smirk. Zac always had a thing for longhaired brunettes. What really didn't help the situation was that this one refused to take crap from him.

So many just don't get it that he hates girls that let him boss them around. What also was pretty wild was she was a drummer too. The girl pointed to where Daph could barely be seen walking off.

Jammer as if almost reading Zac's thought went to reach out to grab him, but it was too late. Zac had already taken off racing after her. I smiled turning to shake another fan's hand.

*          *          *          *          *

I pushed open the door and walked out into the parking deck. I needed to get back onto the city streets, so that I could to walk Grand Central. I had a train to catch. I sighed and looked down at my bare hands. I can't believe I gave away my autographed photo, but an inner voice kept repeating to me that autographs didn't matter when Hanson knew your name. I remembered how cute my name had sounded on Zac's lips, Daphne.

Oh gosh, there I go again thinking about Zac, one of the only guys I can honestly say off the bat that I have zero chance with. My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps on concrete racing towards me.

"DAPHNE, WAIT!"

That voice ... I spun around to see Zac racing towards me. He reached me panting a bit.

"Dude, where are you going?"

"Oh, um ... I was just about to catch a train back home ... "

"No! Come hang with us a bit!"

"I don't know. Are you sure? I don't want to inconvenience you and your family."

At that minute the rest of the Hanson crew burst through the doors. Jammer, a rep from their label came charging over.

"ZAC!" Zac turned to face him.

"SORRY, MAN! I didn't mean to run off. It's just I had to make sure Daphne didn't get away before I asked her to come hang with us for a bit." Jammers face fell.

"What? Zac, we have not cleared this with-"

"Screw that!" Zac exclaimed.

"The company has no control over who we choose to befriend, and we have the rest of the day off! So stop being a dick! COME ON, DAPHNE!" He yelled as he walked over to Tay and Ike.

Tay smirked back at Jammer. I raced over to their van and jumped in right after Ike, and I thought today was just going to be an average day!

*          *          *          *          *

I rushed out of the van and ran to the front entrance of the hotel. Security was holding the fans back as we entered the hotel. I looked over everyone else. Where is he? Where is he? I spotted him at that moment coming toward the glass doors. Our eyes locked and the next minute we were in each other's arms.

"I missed you," I whispered nuzzling my nose into his neck.

"I missed you too," he replied. He took my face in his hands and kissed me passionately on the lips. It probably seemed to those who didn't know us that we had been apart for a long while, but for everyone who knew us, this was normal.

"Okay, uh Taylor are you going to move or what," Zac said thumping me on the side.

"Huh," his image wavered and vanished. My heart stung with pain and a tear trickled over my cheek. I walked through the lobby. My stomach turning, my head pounding.

"Why," I muttered to myself as I entered the elevator.

"You ok dude," Zac asked.

"Yeah," I said sniffling back the run my nose was about to make and looked away.

*          *          *          *          *

I watched them all run around the hotel happily with a scowl on my face. I couldn't believe Zac had invited that brunette bimbo back to the hotel. At least the situation with Taylor was taken care of.

*          *          *          *          *

I picked up the phone and dialed back to Tulsa.

"Come on Shiye, pick up."

"Hello," I heard over the phone. I smiled.

"Hey, it's me, just called to say I miss you and I love you."

I could hear the happiness in her voice as she replied.

"I love you and miss you too."

"How have you been feeling?"

"Okay ... "

"So are you?"

"Ike, I don't know yet, this is all really new territory for me," she replied the tension in her voice was noticeable.

"I understand completely. I just want you to know that I love you and support you no matter what."

"Okay?"

"I love you too, Kermie. Bye."

"Bye, love you." I said hanging up the phone.

"OH, I LOVE YOU TOO, MAN," I heard Zac yell as he came in the room and slammed the door behind him. Standing directly in front of him was Daphne. Zac almost put his arms around her and then threw them back down. She turned halfway around.

"You okay?" He shoved his hands into his pockets.

"Uh, yeah ... " He snapped.

I shook my head. It was so obvious that Zac was attracted to this girl and the only thing he could do was act like an even bigger prick than usual. He's going to need some help, I thought. I sighed and stood up.

"Well, I better go see what we're doing for dinner tonight. I'm starving." I lied.

Zac got a confused look on his face, but before he could open his mouth to say anything I was already out the door.

*          *          *          *          *

"Dude, okay, that was weird…" Zac muttered. He then looked over at me. "So…"

That's when I noticed the Sony Play Station hooked up to the TV.

"NO WAY! SONY PLAYSTATION, KICK ASS," I said pushing past him. I saw him grin out of the corner of my eye.

"You like video games?"

"D'UH!"

"Yeah right," He scoffed.

"Please! Don't you dare start that whole video games are for guys thing. If you don't believe me then play me. I'll even let you pick the game."

"I don't know ... "

"What? Afraid to be beaten by a girl?"

"OH LIKE YOU EVEN HAVE A CHANCE," He shouted.

"FINE THEN! BRING IT ON, HANSON BOY," I retorted.

*          *          *          *          *

I stared over at her. What the hell was I doing? I was in a hotel room with a girl - AND I WAS PLAYING VIDEOGAMES!?

"Do you have anything to drink," she asked as she beat me again. I stared at the screen in disbelief.

"Yeah, in the fridge over there we have some Dr. Peppers although I warn you when you get back I'm going to have to stop letting you win."

"Oh, yeah right," she said standing up. Her long hair brushed my face. I closed my eyes and breathed in. My eyes shot open then. What the hell was I doing smelling her hair? THIS IS JUST DAPHNE! I watched her lean over to get a Dr. Pepper out of the fridge. I sighed.

"Daphne, a totally hot chick."

"What?" She said turning around.

"WHAT?!?" I practically screamed.

"Did you say something?"

"Uh, no, shut-up!"

"Geeze, forget, I asked. I just thought I heard my name. That's all."

"Well don't flatter yourself," I snapped back. She frowned and shrugged.

"Fine. Hey, you thirsty?"

"NO! WILL YOU GET YOUR DRINK AND COME OVER HERE SO WE CAN CONTINUE THE GAME," I yelled. She closed the fridge.

"Sorry," she replied quietly.

What the heck was wrong with me? She began to walk by me and I held my foot out a bit. I noticed her watching me. I smiled. She was about to look down when all of the sudden there was a knock at the door. She stepped back and tripped over my foot. OH CRAP! I reached out and grabbed her and pulled her back almost falling back on the bed.

The two of us sat up and I realized I had just somehow pulled her into my lap. We both looked at the door as my dad walked in. He gave us a confused look.

"Okay, whatever," he said as he grabbed a bag and walked out of the room.

I looked back at her and our eyes locked. We sat there staring at each other. I wanted to kiss her so bad, and there was just something in her eyes that told me she just wouldn't mind. I leaned my head forward a bit and she did the same. I could feel her breath against my face. I couldn't believe I was about to do this. My arms wrapped around her and one hand slipped up to the base of her head. We broke the space between us with a kiss.

The door slammed open at that minute. Daphne jumped back startled and fell out of my lap onto the floor. I jumped up and my head shot back to the door. Tay walked in and asked,

"Whoa! Is everyone okay?" I realized then that he hadn't seen us kissing. I felt my body relax. I turned to look towards Daphne, but she avoided looking at me. She stood up.

"Yeah, we're fine ... " She replied calmly with a smile.

"OK," Tay said. I looked at him. He didn't? He winked at me, and I knew he had seen everything.
